Welcome to my School Library Portfolio.
This portfolio is a reflection of my graduate work for McDaniel College’s School Library Media Program. All of my coursework aligns to the American Association of School Librarians’ five standards for Initial Preparation of School Librarians. I am currently the Lower School Librarian at Roland Park Country School. Since 2006, I have had the pleasure of overseeing the Killebrew Library, a beautiful facility which serves students in preschool through fifth grades. I began my graduate studies at the same time I started my position and have grown as a professional from both my coursework and my experiences as a practicing librarian. This portfolio chronicles my journey and highlights the many valuable lessons I have learned along the way. .
School Library Mission Statement:
The Killebrew Library values and supports a love of reading and the pursuit of knowledge for students, faculty and the entire Roland Park Country school community.
School Library Vision Statement:
Reading is the key that opens many possibilities! Because reading is essential for learning and personal growth, it should become a lifelong skill for all individuals. In the Killebrew Library, we provide instruction, resources and services to members of the school community, supporting reading and the effective use of ideas and information in a variety of formats. We encourage our patrons to become critical, independent thinkers who can successfully navigate the varied and vast amount of information available in today's world.
